Description

Ooooh-kay super nerdy pretentious fanart with equally nerdy pretentious description. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. :P

A portrait of a dead stigmatized Walter Kovacs/Rorschach from Watchmen. (yeah, I know there was no body, its symbolic! work with me here. lol) Inspired by art nouveau and religious painting.

This is intended to be part of a series of similar works all done on the 'golden section' portraying popular comic or animation characters. Next up will be the The Joker. I'm not sure how many i intend to do, hopefully a couple. I do want to focus on more of my original work, but fan art gets attention at comic cons, so what can I say?

Now for some technical bullshit. I composed this on the golden mean, golden section, Fibonacci rectangle, blah blah blah. When i was younger I was schooled in the use of 'dynamic symmetry' by one of the best teachers I've ever had the pleasure of learning from; Mr. Myron Barnestone. But I was young and confused and did not really understand how to use the tool properly. So now I'm experimenting with section some more, and finding I understand it a lot better now. I let some of the armature of the rectangle show through because I felt the notion of geometric symmetry works well with this character. If anyone is nerdy enough to want to see this in rough with the full armature visible, let me know and maybe I'll post it up in my scraps.

also, thank you :iconprincess-of-shadows: for the beautiful textures.
